Saturday night, August 22nd, Mike Ward will be at Stage 11 House Concerts in Weaverville, NC.
Detroit singer-songwriter Mike Ward is known for his lyrically-centric, vocally-charged folk songs. Born in Port Huron MI in the 50’s, Mike grew up in the conscious-raising 60’s, where a new awareness of the world was colliding around him. Influences are the likes of Dylan, Jackson Browne and Joan Baez, with his own songs offering a dose of self-deprecating humor ala John Prine and Louden Wainwright III.
Ward brings a unique perspective to his songwriting after having spent 40 years working in the creative side of the advertising industry while continuing a lifelong passion for hockey, which resulted in his infamous nickname “PsychoWard”, thus he publishes under Mike Ward:Psychosongs.
Americana Highways says about Mike “Contemporary folk music firmly rooted in the tradition, sincerely presented, and intelligently written.”
